Work Experience
After graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Cincinnati, I spent most of my early career with Accenture and Arthur Andersen, loving consulting but finding the lifestyle limiting to my personal balance. In 2001, as Arthur Andersen met its demise, I was forced into making a decision about the rest of my career.
I took the time to reflect on my experience and interests and chart a more deliberate course tied to my personal “why.” At that same time, Centric Consulting was still in startup mode and getting ready to open a second office in Cincinnati. When Larry English shared with me what they were building, I was inspired and hooked.
I started our Cincinnati office and our Enterprise Applications & Solutions practice in 2002. Then, in 2019, I became one of our four Managing Members, where my focus shifted to company strategy and growth, culture, priority setting, enterprise decision-making and coaching of operating groups.
Get to Know Me
I grew up in Vandalia, Ohio and came to Cincinnati for college in 1984. My wife and I met our senior year in college and then graduated, got married and started our careers all within three months. We adopted Cincinnati as our home and have loved raising our three kids here. Now, as empty nesters, there is nothing we love more in life than spending time with our kids, so we try to take fun trips regularly where our kids want to join us either skiing, beaching, exploring and always dining!
Beyond our travel, I have reached a point in life where yard work is relaxing, pickleball is fun, and time with friends and family is a priority. And with the broader feasibility of remote work, we have begun experimenting with tastes of snowbirding and spending a month a year working from Florida. And, of course, our kids find ways to align their schedules to that month.
What’s your favorite unmatched experience story?
There’s one simple story that highlights Chris Durham from our Louisville office leaving the client facility after a heavy snowfall, and she, along with a couple of other team members, decided to clear off a bunch of cars in the parking lot. I love it because it highlights the simplicity of how we can create unmatched experiences if we just stop and think about the situations in front of us and how we can be generous to others.
What energizes you and brings you excitement?
Growth and opportunity. I am always most excited when we are doing something new, whether it be a new city, a new service offering, or a new spinoff like TeamCentral. A key role I often play in those situations is figuring out how best to leverage the talent we have and helping people find their “superpower” and thrive while making great things happen. My time at Centric has really helped me see the exciting side of growth, both for the company as well as our employees!
